Wedding Planning (Engaged Or Not!)

Ever since joining Pinterest, I've been planning my wedding.

RANDOM PERSON: "Oh, lovely! How long have you been engaged? When's the big day?"

*coughs* *looks down sheepishly*
"Uh, I'm not engaged...'

Yeah, that can be a bit awkward, but advance planning is actually a brilliant idea!
Hear me out:

Any bride will tell you how stressful wedding planning can be.
Figuring out what style of wedding you want, venues, your dress, the bridesmaids dresses, wedding photo preferences, dinner or appetizers, time of year, time of day, how many people, invitations,...

Just the thought of it can leave your head spinning :S

Why leave all that planning till you're engaged?
Since I started planning, I've gradually figured out just what style of wedding I really want!
I've come across some brilliant tips and tricks, and tremendous money savers!

If I hadn't already started, I'm almost positive I would end up regretting one thing or another.

"What have you learned?"

Books.
I love books, literature, words, writing, letters, and paper.

This will have a definite influence on my wedding.
One way is the decorations and centerpieces.

Because of my love of these things, I actually designed a candle holder that has hand painted writing from the literary works of Jane Austen and Charlotte Bronte.

The picture below features Pride and Prejudice.
The candle holder on top of a few books is a classy, and simple centerpiece.

Enough about me!

What is your ideal wedding style?

Math Geeks by Candlelight

My newest candle holder design is available!
It features Albert Einstein's handwritten math notes, hand painted by me on a square glass candle holder that is 3 1/4 " high.

Here's some pictures for you!

The Dream

When was it?

It can be hard to gauge the exact moment when a dream becomes a reality.
It seems, though, that my moment has arrived!

So, to answer the opening question, my moment was when I opened my little shop, The Art of Writing.

The bigger, and more important question, though, is:

What is my dream?

To do volunteer work in an area that is need of help and support.
Belize is the country I've chosen, and thankfully I have connections in place to make for an easy transition :)

When is this all happening?

It's already started! That can be a little overwhelming to think about, but also satisfying. I've been wanting to do this for many years, but the timing has never been right before.

The goal is to be there by the Spring of 2014 - Not very far off!

The idea of my little shop is to help me in raising funds to move, and to contribute towards my living expenses while I'm there.

Why "The Art of Writing"?

I've always loved handwriting - cursive and caligraphy. The beauty of a handwritten letter. In our modern era, it seems to be a dying art.

I try to combine that love with other passions - literature, words, art, paper, stationary, ampersands, home decor, simple pleasures, etc.

I believe in only selling something that I would actually want to buy. Things that inspire me, and make me happy. I hope they do the same for you.
